Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute Superspeciality Hospital was constructed as a Central Government Scheme called Pradhana Manthri Swastya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). This scheme launched during 2006 – 2007 by the Honorable Prime Minister of India to upgrade tertiary healthcare Superspeciality disciplines across the country. The Main aim was to give health care for the common people, to provide best facilities & to create opportunities for research. Total budget for the project was 100 crores out of which 50.00 crores was spent for civil works & remaining 50 crores was spent for purchase of high End State of Art equipment & furniture.
The Super Speciality Hospital has Seven Superspeciality Departments like Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Paediatric Surgery & Surgical Gastroenterology. These Surgical departments are supported with dedicated Anesthesiology Department.
The Super Speciality Hospital was officially Inaugurated on August 18th 2012, by Honorable Union Health Minister Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad and was dedicated to patients of Karnataka to get High Quality treatment especially to poor patients at very affordable charges or Nil charges mainly for patients who come under different Health Insurance Scheme Launched by Government of Karnataka & Government Of India.
